Team Germany scores late wins in Capetown
After ten days of debating, Team Germany arrived back home from Captetown's WSDC 2012 in late January after winning three out of eight preliminary debates - just like in Dundee, Scotland last year. Louisa Benk, Bhavesh Agarwal, Sophia Jaimes-Ramos, Felix Jiang and Antonia Schmidt have shown great discipline and positivity after winning only one debate during the first six rounds, when they, on the last day, didn't hang their heads and won against both India and the Czech Republic. Congratulations for this great achievement! The speakers have been great representatives of German debating in Capetown and have scored a respectable 36th place out of 48 participating nations, on top of all the excellent new contacts and friendships made, cultures and Capetown experienced and overall having enjoyed a wonderful trip as a team.
Completing the delegation were coach and team manager Marie Schreier (Uni Tübingen), judge Klaus-Peter Heil (Parler-GYM, Schwäbisch Gmünd) and judge Christopher Sanchez (Max-Born-GYM, Backnang), who would eventually have the great privilege of judging the Grand Final. In this final, Scotland beat Wales 8:1 and became new WSDC Champion 2012 out of 48 nations. Congratulations!!
